Samson Gregory was born April 1876 in Boldre, Hampshire; he was the son of Stephen and Ellen Gregory. He married Amy Louisa Doe in Lymington, Hampshire in October 1896 and on the census his occupation was a labourer.

After being called up on 18th July 1916 Samson was accepted into the Army on 19th July 1916 13th Hants the given Service number 26061, Regiment number 663118 he was a labour corp. Samson’s next of kin was his son Frederick. On 1st September 1916 it is written that he was a training reserve and then was posted to the Somerset Lights Infantry on 27th October 1916, his regiment number changing to 32364. He was discharged on 21st April 1919.

Samson received the British War Medal and Victory Medal. He is noted within is paperwork as living in Norleywood, Lymington, Hampshire.
